Our Craft · Since 2017

Old-world craft with new-world precision.

Cal Coast Flooring is a boutique studio of hardwood craftspeople serving Greater Los Angeles & the South Bay. Since 2017 we've built one-of-a-kind floors, custom staircases, and handrails — milled from premium lumber and finished by hand, one home at a time.

A floor is the one surface in a home you touch every day. We started Cal Coast Flooring to treat it that way — with the patience of old-world craft and the precision of modern equipment.

So we built the company around accountability. The crews that level your subfloor, lay your boards, build your staircase, and apply the final coat are specialists in their trades — and every one of them works to the same standard of care, with every project managed by Cal Coast start to finish, from bare concrete to the moment you walk on it barefoot.

Today we work along the coast from Malibu through the South Bay and down into Orange County, with showrooms in LAX, Malibu, and Lomita where you can see and feel full-size samples. Whether your floor is milled to order from unfinished lumber or chosen from the prefinished lines we carry, it's selected for your home and installed with the same care.

What we stand for

How we work

Four principles that hold on every project, from a single staircase to a whole-home install.

Everything in-house

Many specialists, one standard of care — subfloor to final coat. We own every step, so the quality never slips between trades.

Old-world craft, modern tech

Hand-laid boards and milled-to-order detail, paired with today's technology — dust-contained demo, dustless sanding, and finish systems tougher than anything the old craftsmen had.

Premium materials

We mill from premium unfinished lumber and finish with the systems we genuinely trust — matched to how you actually live.

Built to last

Floors engineered for the long run — proper prep beneath them, finishes chosen for real wear — and a workmanship guarantee behind all of it.

A full install, start to finish

Six steps, no shortcuts

Not every floor needs every step — a refinish starts at sanding, an epoxy job at prep. But when we build a custom hardwood floor from bare concrete, this is the whole road.

  1. 01

    Demolition

Old material comes out under dust containment, so the mess stays in the work zone — not the rest of the house.

  2. 02

    Subfloor Prep

We level and sound the subfloor so everything above it sits flat, quiet, and permanent.

  3. 03

    Installation

Boards are placed strategically and joints staggered by hand for strength and a natural flow.

  4. 04

    Staircases

Custom stairs and handrails are fitted and blended seamlessly into the new floors.

  5. 05

    Sanding

A dustless sanding process takes the floor down to bare wood for a flawless base.

  6. 06

    Finishing

We apply your chosen oil or polyurethane system for the look and durability you want.
